LCP Right Sidebar

Child Theme

If you modify a theme’s main code and the theme is updated your changes will be lost. The benefit of creating a child theme is that your code is preserved. A child theme allows to alter the look and functionality of your site.

You will need to create:

style.css

The style.css you will create needs to have:

/*
 Theme Name: A name you choose
 Theme URI:    your url
 Description: LCP Right Sidebar Child Theme
 Author:       your name
 Author URI:   http://example.com
 Template:     lcp-right-sidebar
 Version:      1.0.0
 License: GNU General Public License v2 or later
 License URI:  http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
 Tags: Tags: full-width-template, blue, gray, white, right-sidebar, full-width-template, dark, light, fluid-layout
 Text Domain:  lcp-right-sidebar-child
*/

Template is the only required field that needs to be filled in and in order for your child theme of LCP Right Sidebar the field must read, lcp-right-sidebar as shown above

functions.php

The functions.php you will create needs to have:

<?php
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_enqueue_styles' );
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
    wp_enqueue_style( 'parent-style', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css' );
}

In your style.css file you created for your child theme you can alter colors, widths, heights, font styles, links colors and styles. You can completely alter how your site looks. For example:

/* Footer */
.footer{
     color: blue;
}

/* This is a comment which does not effect your site. Comments help you maintain organization and easy reference in the future for further editing */
